Matt
Wilhelm Profile

Sometimes
it’s really hard to write an intro for somebody. I mean I don’t really
know Matt super good, but every single time I talk to him he has always
been very nice and quite funny. Since I didn’t know a whole lot about
Mr. Wilhelm, I decided to ask him a few questions so we could all get to
know this awesome Flatlander a bit better. Well that intro wasn't hard to
write at all–Leigh.

Years riding?
Nine
Years.
Where do you live?
Chicago,
Illinois
Sponsors:
GT
Bicycles, Dan’s Competition
What made you start riding?
I
was into jumping little dirt hills and one of the older racers wanted to
beat me up because I scratched his Oakleys, so then I just put pegs on my
bike and started doing tricks in a parking lot.
What
makes you go out and ride everyday?
The
idea of personal progression and self-improvement. Trying to just make
myself a better person, you learn a lot from bike riding that you really
wouldn’t think; concentration, a lot of nutritional stuff.
What’s it like winning your first pro contest?
It
feels great. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I didn’t do
too well last year at the X Games and the first contest this year I missed
the cut by one, so it feels good.
How good
does it feel?
It
feels real good.
How good?
Real
good.
How good?
Real
good.
All right. So what type of music do you like?
I
listen to a lot of jazz and punk rock happy stuff. Just anything to get me
motivated.
What do you like to do outside of riding?
I
play saxophone, jazz and classical. I lift weights and read and write.
Thanks:
I’d
like to thank my parents most of all, my girlfriend, GT, Dan’s and all
my friends at school and at home.
