When were you born? “Jan. 10th, 1979, I am 22 years old.” Where are you from? “Chicago, IL” When did you begin riding flatland? “Back in ’92 at the trails I scratched this dudes Oakleys and was scared that he would beat me up, so I put pegs on my bike and started doing tricks.” What's probably the most difficult trick that you've pulled? “It’s definitely a body varial. You start out by throwing the bike behind you into a caboose and you jump as high as you can, spin your body 360 degrees, land back on the pegs and continue to roll forward.” |

When you first started out in flatland, what kind of ride did you have? “I had a ’89 master with a built in bash guard, Redline racing tires, 2 pegs and no brakes. It took me about 3 years to get a good bike.” What is your latest trick that you have conquered? “I just invented it I think. It’s the body varial one with the caboose.” To you, who is the flatland king? “Chase Gouin” What do you drive around besides your bike? “1992 Saturn SL1. My bike fits in there pretty well.” |

I started riding more after that which pretty much kept me out of trouble.” Are you into any other types of riding? “Not really, mostly flatland, but I did learn back flips into the foam pit this year at Woodward. Have you ever been scared out of your mind? “Yes!! There was a 4 man gunfight in a parking lot that I was riding. I took off and hid in an alley.” |

You've have created a how-to video called “Wanna Ride Flatland?” How's that doing for you? “It’s doing pretty well. I get a lot of positive feedback from the kids who tell me that the intro section inspires them and the explanations with multiple camera angles save them time and frustration.” Whats your worst boo-boo? “I broke my pinky and index finger at the same time. My fingers were in splints so I was flashing the Slayer sign for six weeks.” What kind of music are you into? “I really enjoy jazz, I play the sax and I actually received the highest scholarship possible for music at my university. However, I listen to punk rock and jazz when I ride to get me motivated.” Have you ever been in a Props video? “I’ve been in issue 28, 35, best of ’98, and the best of ’99. In issue 42 I will have an interview.” |

What's behind your motivation? “I want to look back and say that I tried my hardest. I want to turn my life and actions into a page in history”. The movie “The Hurricane” and the lyrics on the Pennywise album “About Time” also inspire me.” Do you have a girlfriend? “Yeah, her name is Kathy and she digs bikes!” Who are your sponsors? “Giant, Dan's Comp, Odyssey.” What’s the craziest thing you have ever done? “Probably playing strip poker in a Convent. Don’t worry, it wasn’t with any nuns, just hot chicks.” How's this year's contests been for you? “Awesome! I got first place in the Louisville X-trials, and won the bronze metal in the X-games.” Whats it like seeing yourself on T.V.? “ I didn’t think it was a big deal at first, but after being recognized in places like the mall by |

people who don’t ride I started appreciating it more. Now I think it’s a big deal because people all over the world have watched me do what I love.” What kind of advice do you have for up and coming riders? “2 things: Ride your hardest every day even if you don’t want to, and question everything….. Ask why.” Do you have a job? “If you call my summer tour a job. Haha! I really enjoy touring because I get to ride in different places, see the country, and get people psyched on BMX. Winters in Chicago have to be rough. What do you do to escape this? “The park district has given me a gym to ride in for the last 7 or so years. They’ve even kicked out basketball players so that we could ride. If I can't hit the gym Igot my basement and parking garages.” Who would you like to thank and give props to? “My parents, Giant, Dan's Comp, Odyssey, Ron Monis, Dave Petrin, Koji Kraft, Toby Cryns, Kip Williamson, and Brandon Ryan.” |
